A frying pan won't be the last item on my list of stuff to bring.
...but,brookies(the Adk Gem of Trout) can be taken in icy cold water..they are actually a char and don`t mind those freezing temps. too much...
The trouble is if you`re just hiking /flyfishing for the day, its tough to put the flyrod down and start a fire and all, takes away alot of fishing time...but,John Geirach and his pals like to take a break on a chilly day and start a twig fire ,brewing up their favorite beverage,coffee,inwhich I think they drink alot of...Hey AdkH. I think we need to have SR divulge just one of his headwater secret places...
He can even blindfold us if he wants....I know of only one area that might produce early brookies to the fly...but, a friend of mine went there too early one April and got skunked, he went back a few weeks later and slammed them...
So, the my same laws of troutwaters still apply with brookies in certain northern waters...but, it is still nice to get out and limber up the flyrod arm...get the kinks out and check waders for leaks

But, the bottomline ,like St.Regis did say thats very true is...spring is on its way and it is exciting looking forward to throwing those flies we`ve been tying all winter!
