    Bigfoot at Reeds pond...

I don't know if this has been linked anywhere on this site but it was just too good to pass up...

Having spent a fair amount of time in the 'Bigfoot area', I can't say as I've seen it but then again I really wasn't looking.

What a strange article. I always wondered about Reeds Mill Pond, a pretty little thing, inviting me to visit as I often passed by on my way to other places in the Black River headwaters. I spent the night there once, a stop on my way with Hornbeck hiking to Plattsburgh. In reality it's an awful place, extremely shallow and weed choked. Unless you are there in late summer to see the surface growth you wouldn't know this, - as is obvious from the photo in the article. The locals have trashed unofficial campsites near the road with beer bottles and garbage. Paddling across the pond through the depressing muck there's not much to see and the forest is dark and dreary. Hanging in my hammock I never saw anything of the legend, though I'll be sure to watch more closely my next time through.

...to say the least. I've seen Adirondack Jack's truck parked outside Gander Mountain before, with of course the name spelled out in hardware shop letters.

Does anyone else think his "award" from Pataki, Bush, and Clinton is homemade? I mean really, if he gets recognition like that for picking up litter, then I can think of a few deserving people around here who should get the Medal of Honor.

His description of everything north of North Lake as "100 miles wilderness in all directions" and "all wilderness to Canada" would be cool if it was true, but apparently he's never heard of places like Old Forge, Lake Placid, and Malone.

It never ceases to amaze me what some people will do or say for their 15 minutes of fame.

The Question is whether he really said that or if the writer is "taking creative liberties". You know, like politicians.

If this article was't written as a joke, it should have been. Driving a minivan on a dirt road, talk about living on the edge. These Jerimah Johnsons would need a guide to find the way from the Loj to Marcy Dam.
Sad thing is They were serious. Clowns like this are everywhere, they think a 4 wheeler, a six of Coors light and relaxed fit camo makes them a outdoorsman.
