        Cache Lake Country

by John J Rowlands. I'm about 2/3's through and it has great woods craft information (albeit some not nearly LNT), and observations while living alone in sub-Hudsons Bay Canada. Circa 1930's ??? but was published in 1947 I think. Some Cree (?) legends & lore (including Loup Garou), fishing , hunting,
        canoeing.

"Get your mind off trout,if you can.I know they`ve got you.I can see it. Every fraternity of sufferers knows its brothers.Trout hook men;men don`t hook trout.Better try and throw the hook while you can.By the time you`re a grown man there probably won`t be a pure trout healthy enough to fiddle with"... The World Without Us by Alan Weisman
He found himself wondering at times, especially in the autumn, about the wild lands, and strange visions of mountains that he had never seen came into his dreams.

Are we talking about Hunting/Fishing Books?

It's neither, but I just finished "Pardon Me, Sir ...There's a Moose In Your Tent" by Larry Weill.

I think I liked "Excuse Me, Sir ... Your Socks Are On Fire" much more though.

Try The River Why by David James Duncan.

His, Brothers K is good too, if you like baseball themes.

I just finished the biography of Carl Sagan and the autobiography of General Tommy Franks (what a maroon!). I'm now working on the book Founding Myths, about the falacies of the Revolutionary War stories that we have accepted as our cultural history. I heard about "The World without Us" and it's on my list.

                              Thanks!

I believe those will get me through 'til spring.
Looks like some great selections, thanks for the recommendations.

I just finished Winterdance by Gary Paulsen. Really, really quick and easy read but very entertaining.
