    End the draught

I've spent a number of great years walking through the adirondack forests looking for the proverbial "great buck". I've taken a number of deer over the years. Less than many, more than others. I've passed up on a fair number of deer as many of you have as well. This past Saturday at about 4:00PM, I ended a draught for a buck, that has lasted 6 years. Took a wiley 5 point, with an aweful nice body of 130 lbs or so. I called Ward on the radio. Nothing. I headed toward where I had shot at the deer. It was very obvious that the deer was not going to travel far. I found him down the mountain about 100 yards or so. After dressing him out, I contnued my calls to Ward. Nothing. At about 7:00pm,while dragging in the dark, I tried the radio again. Where the %@#* are you was the reply. That's my boy, I thought. Wardy came up over the mountain, and off we went. Only problem was Mrs. Slamdog and Malcolms girlfriend had been waiting for two hours to go to dinner. Mrs. S wanted to call SAR.........thankfully, she settled down after dinner and a couple of legal bevarages. And now, we have black powder starting next Monday........Happy hunting. Slam
    Why wait until tomorrow..............

Congrats Slamdog. It always seems sweeter to me to get my buck at the end of the season. Congrats again!

Congrats on the buck. I'm on a 4 year drought for a deer right now and it's not from a lack of time in the woods just always on the second best watch. Hopefully I don't have to wait for another two years.
