I do live near there. Maybe I will give it a try...I'll have to get some new flies first. Will other streamer patterns work as well?

I wouldn't get too wound up on the right pattern, it's more a matter of are the fish there and can you put a fly in front of them. These fish will take anything from streamers to woolly buggers to hares ear nymphs. I always start with orange/white and then move to something else if they are there and not hitting.

I don't know exactly where you live but a friend told me that a good place to wade out and cast for LLS is where Mill Creek flows into Schroon lake on the east shore.

CW - I would assume you use a sinking fly line, right? Are they line shy like they are during the winter? Do you think they will be around tributeries in all lakes that hold them? Sorry for the endless questions, but word of mouth, ...or message board..., is the best way to get advice.Thanks.-GG

Sinking flyline = No, full floating.
Line shy = Not really. 3x flourocarbon works fine.
Around tributaries = As of yesterday there were still a few but that number is waning. It is likely that they will be near the tributaries for awhile though.

Caught and released 8 and lost several others in the course of an hour last saturday. One of them actually jumped up onto a dock I was fishing near.

Someday I`d like to pursue the silver bullets on a fly rod.I used to catch a few on spinning gear years ago.They were few and far between trips then.

But,this year I need to pursue the almighty whitetail first.Maybe,if I can get lucky and fill the freezer soon,I can take off for those shiny beauties.Good luck and let us know how you make out!
