    Trout Fishing near Pharaoh Lake

Which lakes in the area would be best to catch some Rainbow or Brown Trout? Another question. Do you need a trout stamp or similar to fish for trout in NY? I have a fresh water license, just don't know if I need a stamp or not..

    Thanks!

    no stamp

You don't need a stamp to fish for trout in NY, your freshwater license will cover.

the question you ask should be a tight lipped answer
        here is my advice:
study up, the resources are there "you just got to poke around"

or for instant gratification you could always hire an experienced guide (self promotion

It probably has something to due with the fact that once a spot becomes known everybody that can hold a rod shows up to fish the spot out

I never really understood why someone would want to enter the woods and waters w/no sense of exploration and discovery.

                    It's a form of conservation.

...if I only had a blindfold for every time someone told me that.

                    That's why I fish w/a dog.....

That's funny because the other day I saw a pack of dogs heading off into the woods any they all had fish poles strapped to their backs.

You'd be hard pressed to get easy answers/secrets from folks who have literally crawled on their hands and knees to get to what might be the perfect cast as black flies, thorns, and nasty sludge envelop them. My suggestion is to explore until you find your own secret spots. There are still plenty of them left!

If you back track a bit under Fishing/hunting topics ,theres a thread exactly about this sort of thing...but, I`ll say it again...if you`re very serious about catching/fishing for trout in the Adk`s...just pick a nice pond/little lake and jump in a canoe and troll around...thats the only way to learn a body of water...and of course,time....one really has to put there time in and enjoy it even when the fish don`t bite ...my brother and I have gotten skunked more times in ponds than we have had caught fish...hours and hours while floating around like loons ...but, theres still the shore lunch and and the ever present beauty surrounding you that matters most ...can`t get that on the computer at home...just my nickels worth...

                              Sorry,if this does`nt help much.,

"Get your mind off trout,if you can.I know they`ve got you.I can see it. Every fraternity of sufferers knows its brothers.Trout hook men;men don`t hook trout.Better try and throw the hook while you can.By the time you`re a grown man there probably won`t be a pure trout healthy enough to fiddle with"...
