Sacandaga River / Wells / Hope

Anyone fishing the river ? Just wondering what types of fly's if any are having any luck. Also if the Osprey's have been around, I would love to see them.

      Sorry,

I wish I knew that area ...I never fished the Sacandaga R....I do know a few small streams in that area for native brookies, but, I have no news..did`nt make it up there this spring and now and through the summer months, the chubs will beat the trout to the fly...

No worries, thanks anyway. I'm guessing the best time to fish the Sacandaga is May after the stocking......Maybe I'll follow you out to your secret honeyhole's next time your out. Actually I find that half the fun is looking for the spots. The countryside was beutiful this past weekend. Too bad I wasn't hunting Grouse, they were all over the place.

Which creeks have you done in the past in that area? Because I'm not having much creek success, although I do like finding my spots it might help me to be on the right water. I'm also not used to this type of fishing environment. Where the branches come so far over the water it's hard to place the fly w/o getting stuck. Of course that isn't an issue on the Sacandaga river. I think the spot by the dam has been beat to death over the last few weeks.
