Moose River plains ~ Hare hunt

Traveled the 6+ hour drive to moose River plains to chase hare with my lone beagle..
Searching about 90 minutes when gunner opens with a few barks.
He starts circling the hare .
It evades me for an hour then tries to sneak past me at 25 yds.
It was literally close in front of my beagle.
Jumped another hare around 4pm..
Slow tracking stop n go.
Then it moves out of the cover edge and faster tracking.
I see it fly by me but no shot .
I pick up gunner at 4:30 near a dirt road.
Not sure I wanted let him run it till dark as I had a 325 mile drive home .
Beautiful day in the Adirondack mountains to chase Hare and smell the fir trees .

The weather was perfect.45° and sunny with no wind.
Any day in the Adirondack mountains is a grand day ..
I'll be back ASAP!

I've never hunted the catskill region.
I have hiked the long path recently and it looks like good cover on top of the peaks .
I think they do have some hare although not a huge population.
Try Google searching hare hunting in the catskills and it shows a place to hunt.
Snow on the ground is the best way to tell finding tracks.
I usually hunt tug hill region.
Without a dog it can be a lot searching.
