Well, a very early out the door finally occurred and after ‘plan A’ fell through at the first river of choice , pretty murky like a latte, I regrouped and moved on rather quickly to ‘plan B’. After some initial taps and short hits by small trout, I notice a really decent rise at the tailout of a large run/hole. After watching patiently a bit more , I no doubt caught a good visual of a large snout/head of a rather large trout break the surface. Ok, let’s give it a shot I thought. It won’t hurt. There were literally no bugs on the surface that I could see, so I tied on a wetfly combo of one a size 16 and the other a size 14. Both patterns were similar to Pheasant Tail Wetflies with slight variations .On my very first cast upstream of the big guy I saw a swirl but no take.Hmmm , maybe it caught its eye. Second and third nothing then on my 4 th drift I casted farther towards the opposite bank letting the flies drift a bit then started the swing earlier, so it was in motion earlier and guess what, it worked!! . He smashed it. And the fight was on!! Amazing battle a decent brown will provide on 5x tippet and a 10’ 4 wt. Need to have two plans ready from now on. IMG_6958.jpg IMG_6942.jpg

Nice WB! I spent some time on the Delaware in May, but haven’t been out lately. Heading to Montana with VTflyfish on July 2. Will be hitting the ponds again in September.“Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. They smelled of moss in your hand. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery.”

Because I live down in Westchester I can't wait for updates from all - VT, WB Eagle Craig, Glen, ADK, JW... I was in Callicoon for a wedding over Memorial Day Weekend and had a chance to get out on the Delaware for an hour - one nice 13" rainbow. Lots of fun.
Glen, hope you get a chance to fish the Salmon fly hatch - have fun.

Nice Glen! Hope you guys have a blast out there! I’ll be looking forward to a fishing report from you guys! BobF , we were down on the West Br. Of Delaware last week. Hooked a few nice big fish that somehow came off. What a fishery!! Literally tons of trout throughout that whole river. And they say nearly all are wild trout!! Don’t see that in too many rivers anymore. Heading back down there next week off Roy d Two. Hope to have something to show. Good luck out there everyone and tightlines!! DSC_0769.jpg So Ross graduated from UC DAVIS last weekend. Then he, Thomas and I did a whitewater rafting/fly fishing trip on the middle fork of the American River. Here’s the river and my best. Check out the adipose fin on that brown!
And please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I don’t know whether I can take two weeks of Glen in Montana.Attached FilesYou do not have permission to view this gallery.

VT, Such a nice photo of your boys and their girls. I can’t believe how old they have gotten. That means only one thing, we must be getting older too. Congratulations to Ross ! And I couldn’t think of a better way to spend time together with your boys! I’m sure fond memories were made. And , what the heck kind of an adipose fin is that? Looks like a rudder!! What a beast of a brown ! Looks all of 20+ inches!! Also, yes, we all will be doing prayer meetings for you. But, seriously, have a great time and please take many photos , hope you guys catch alot of awesome fish. Tightlines!"Get your mind off trout,if you can.I know they`ve got you.I can see it. WB, all I can say is that Glen takes to flyfishing like a Catfish to the muddy shallows. He's venerated across Long Island as a Bullhead magnet.Oscar Wilde:Work is the curse of the drinking class
