Been wanting to head north so ,I woke before the sun and I finally pointed my truck north up the Northway to a river I lost a huge bow on last year. This time, I had a very action packed morning despite not hooking that beast. Some bows were chunkers and gave nice tussles on the 6x tippet. And then, it happened again. On one of those “ok, maybe just one more cast “ sayings that run through your mind , my wetfly got brutally attacked on the swing! A huge silvery sizeable Bismarck went skyrocketing straight up on my light hookset, as this beast crashed back into the seam it was hiding in , the light 6x tippet decided to part ways. What a huge beautiful salmon! Was I bummed? Absolutely, a lot of “what ifs” then formulated in my mind, then , the logic kicked in and I was very happy that it went so high and showed itself off very nicely. A lot of times we never even get a glimpse from a big fish that departed. So,as I called it a day , I drove home quite pleased about the very early rise and the decision to head north. Here’s a few that stayed on and completed my Grand Slam or Hat Trick or maybe the Cycle. If the salmon made it to the net , then what would we calm it then? Hmmmm.

The Grand Slam and almost an added bonus.
"Get your mind off trout,if you can.I know they`ve got you.I can see it. Man, what a great way at looking at that lost fish. You are so right, getting even a glimpse of those ones can be good enough consolation.--------------------------------------------------------------
And lungs are poisoned and shoulders bowed,
In the smothering reek of mill and mine;
And death stalks in on the struggling crowd?
But he shuns the shadow of the oak and pine?

Haha! It wouldn’t be so bad fishing with Glen. I would even share my can of worms with him."Get your mind off trout,if you can.I know they`ve got you.I can see it. “Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. They smelled of moss in your hand. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery.”
