    Compound/Complex Hatch

Something happened today, and it will probably require more than 5000 words to describe.
That means that it could take me more time to type it than it takes to fish it.

I can't afford to do that.

I'd also get wretchedly sick if I had to listen to seventeen installments of One-day-of-Sero-fishing.
So let's just say that this involves nice cold water, kickin' trout, and some wicked flies. It's also about being in the right place at the right time.

I almost feel the need to apologize to wB, marz, cw, ph, ness, and everyone else (you know who you are) ordin...?, who so valiantly go out there and still gather the strength to share their cool **** w/ everyone else. I used to do the stream reports 5-7 days per week, on 3 different web sites, and I just can't do that anymore.

So, I just wanna say that I haven't left you guys behind.
It just cuts into my fishin' time.

    ...

Today was such a good one though, I just thought I'd share it w/ you.
Nonetheless, I hesitate to begin this next sentence.

...Olives, Flying Ants, two types of Caddis...maybe three, Isonychia/Slates, millions of midges, and White Flies (in October!)...
    All in various stages!!!

Each and every Fish seemed to become Super-Selective.
Try to figure that one out!
That's what I tried to do...

[I'll give ya a hint: buggers and streamers were worse than worms.
My buddy, two miles upstream, didn't even catch a hatch.
He might as well have been 5000 miles away].

And there was nobody else fishing...
    Nobody.
    For a million miles.

    Just me.
...tryin' to figure out, what those fish were thinkin'...

    Sorry... no pictures.

Very interesting day you had yourself,Sero....

Must`ve been like the trout were at a buffet table, with too many differant morsels to choose from...ex..Billy Brownie was dining exclusively on Iso`s ,while Robby Rainbow preferred todays specialty.... tasty flying ants ...and don`t forget Betty the Brookie who was sipping Olives from her martini....man,your eyes must be either still in good shape at our age or they are bleeding today from tying on the whole flybox to try to decipher their delicate menu ....but,I imagine... when you hit the right button...their little eyes lit up and Bingo!!!
Fish-on!!! Must`ve been alot of fun , suspenseful/frustrating at times...very good report ...BTW, I miss your artistic humour....but,I know the trouts are always waiting.....til next time...have fun!!!

You said it! I tied on alot of flies.
And then i ran out of 5 and 6X tippet! Not good when they're rising to size 22 olives.
I also forgot to mention, there were even some tiny sulphurs and stoneflies mixed in. Oh, Waiter... there are too many flies in the soup.

After being reduced to 4X, I fished a number of White Fly patterns which they would not touch. For additional insult, a few fish would rise near my knees. Many consistent risers would cruise an area about 10 feet in diameter. If the cast was late, the fish wouldn't even be there!

Two seconds after a rise, I placed a cast six inches in front. I had decided to twitch the fly under...
BLAM!!! I was back in the game.

        Sero,
Well, you've got one less place to post reports. Have you been to adksportsman.com lately? Its become real interesting to say the least.

So I Just wanna say that I haven't left you guys behind.
It just cuts into my fishin' time.

Kind've figured that's what happened...I believe you once said, and correct me if I'm wrong, "I fish because I'm not dead yet." So we knew were you were...

Now if you were really insane, you could have tied one of each fly on your leader sort of like the waiter who brings a tray of deserts out after you have already engorged yourself to try to decide which delight to partake of, and let the damn trouts pick from the lot instead of piece meal one at a time...

Us, well we would have stubbornly refused to play the game and stayed with a bugger just to irritate the selective beasts...But we also know, for you, it is the game that matters...

Now that's one game even I've played before...The old hit em on the head, reaction rise....Doesn't work every time, but takes them when they're most vulnerable, with a just slurped, tasty morsel in their mouth, they can't possibly refuse another quick treat....
