Newbie wonders about Blue Mountain Lake

    Salutations-

I'm new to ADK forum, and thought this would be the place to post my question. I was planning on doing some kayak fishing in the adirondacks,
and a friend of mine suggested Blue Mountain Lake. I love fishing for
smallies with fly rod (only equal to brookies on a fly rod), but my friend
said he didn't think there was any public access to the Lake. Is this true?
If so, I don't mine paying a fee at a marina, could someone suggest one?
I was planning on using streamers or gartside gurglers, do these sound
    good or am I ?
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!!

There is a small car top access on Route 28 before you reach Route 30 going East. Parking is along the road and may be quite far from access. There is a lot of boat traffic on Blue Mountain Lake but if you stay to the left you can leave the Lake and go into Eagle Lake with less traffic.

      welcome fishboy.
Best part of that story (John 21) is that Jesus has a bunch of fish cooking on the beach when they get back, and you know he had to be an awesome cook! I mean if you can feed 5000 people with a few fish, thats what I call a good chef.
He found himself wondering at times, especially in the autumn, about the wild lands, and strange visions of mountains that he had never seen came into his dreams.

IMHO - There are alot of better destinations. Check out the threads about the St. Regis area.

          Thanks for the info guys!
I haven't done any serious exploring in the Adirondacks in a long time
but now it looks like I'm going to be finding some more time to go.
I hope to see some of you out on the lakes or streams.

BML's public hand launch is adjacent to town beach in SE corner of lake. There's additional public pkg & bathroom imm across SR28 beside Fire Dept - just don't block their access. NYS acquired some nice island campsites few yrs back if you decide to stay over or want a place for a shore lunch. Enjoy !

You would do better on nearby Raquette Lake, which has very decent lmb and smb populations, or target lmb and pike on Long Lake, also close, but in the other direction. Both have plenty of traffic, but are big enough to leave you plenty of room to fish. Raquette is my favorite lake in the Blue Line...of those that I have seen.
