    trout in august

    Anyone have any luck catching trout out of any of the ponds in august? Fishing deep of course.

    IMO- I think the clear/cloudless days of the last couple weeks of August are the worst for catching trout.

    But, each pond is different and there is no clearcut way of telling which ones are going to be good Summer producers, except by trial & error. Generally/but not always, ones with more than 25 feet of depth is a good starting point. Some, you HAVE to fish deep...others produce surprising high in the water column. But, in ALL of them...any trout caught will be stressed to the max by the warm topwater layer....if you want to release them. Need to bring them in as quickly as possible and quickly unhook them for any chance (at all) of survival. IMO

      augest is a hard month to fish for trout but in a larger and deeper pond it becomes easier for the fish to stay cool the trick is to find the thermocline as fast as possible and that is where you will find the trout
      i leave my peep site loose incase of a running deer. if they run to the right i swing to th right if they run to the left i swing to the left.
