Most bizarre catch in the Adirondacks?

We've all caught some interesting things while fishing, what are some of yours?

I caught a women's sweater off Rocky Point in Fourth Lake while trolling leadcore. Another time I caught a functional squirt gun pistol while trolling the channel between Third and Fourth Lake. Have also caught mating salamanders on multiple occasions.

This was outside of the park. I was fishing in the St. Lawrence in the Thousand Island area when I caught someone discarded Christmas Tree.

      i caught a pigeon once.
no kidding, it happend this spring.
i was fishing near an old bridge.
right when i cast out, before the lure hit the water, a pigeon flew out from underneath the bridge and into my line.
when it flew through it got the line wraped around a wing.
then with the line attached it tried to turn around and fly back under the bridge, but with the line wraped around it, it flew smack into the bridge deck and fell down into the water.
i was able to get the line back, but i believe it really injured the poor thing because then it flapped around in the water for a good ten minutes before working it's way to the other shore and i lost sight of it.

I caught a duck on Long Lake. Dove in and took my bait. Cut the line. We were staying at Camp Hilary where Dixie LeBlanc (?) was the proprietor and local wildlife rehabilitator. The next day, while everyone was enjoying lunch on the beach, that darn duck showed up with my line hanging from its mouth.

I hit a swallow with a Dardevl while fishing for pickerel when I was in my teens in Success Pond in Maine. I'll never forget it. I cast, and whack - the swallow hit it square on, dead instantly. Ruined my day.

My son was pulling in a small bass a few weeks ago when a large snapper came up and took a huge chunk out of it. He said he felt like he was in Jurassic Park

About 10 years ago I was fishing in Saranac Lake and while trolling I thought I had a bite. I realed it in to find myself hooked to some old fishing line. I untangled the mess from my luer (SP) and I felt some tugging, so I pulled the line in with my hands and there was a big sunfish on the end of it. I am not sure how long the fish was hooked like this but I unhooked him and let him go. The hook had some rust on it and was in the fishes mouth. Maybe the line was not as old as I had thought!
Someone must have said the heck with unhooking him even though he was not hooked badly. At least he is free now

One other time in Rollins Pond I caught a small perch and when I was realing him in a Pike grabbed a hold of him and managed to get all of it but the head.

I reeled in a fishing pole once. It was old and broken. Probably why it was there in the first place.

                Freshwater Clams

While fishing in the Black River, my son and I both caught clams, they clamped on to our split shot sinkers.

A buddy of mine who runs a guide service on Lake George snagged an ice shanty with the downrigger ball once.....what a fight! It was a catch and release too!

                    Plenty of strange catches....

I've reeled in a few random things in my time.

On the Raquette River I caught a bat while fly fishing at dusk.
On Francis Lake I caught a water filter, a First-Need that was toast.
On Massawepie Lake I caught a canoe. Yes, a canoe that had the floatation taken out of it and had been sunk. The only reason I know what it was is that I pulled it up out of the weeds just enough to tell what it was before the line snapped. I've considered going back and trying to find that thing and salvage it more than once.
How is it that you are heading west? Well, we face north and then really sudden like turn left.

A seagull hit my Dads lure in Sand Lake in Ontario. He hit it in the air and it caught in his webbing.. He was totally pissed. I was about 4 and remember laying on the bottom of the boat as my Dad fought this crazed bird.. It looked like a scene from the movie the Birds.. finally the line broke and it flew off with a Jitterbug caught. I hope it didn't come to any grief because of that. There wasn't much we could do.

I was fishing an Ontario Trib for northerns and was using a 5-Inch Daredevle. I was just doing cast and retrive, allowing it to sink a bit before reeling some linr, repeating all the way in. I felt a snag and reeled in the line.
It was a 3-4 inch Largemouth Bass fingerling - H went after that 5" daredevle and got on one of the tines of the treble hook. He was definitely smaller than the lure. And although I have always enjoyed bass fishing, I have a greater sense of appreciation for them now.

Maybe a loon? If it was black and white with red eyes, more likely a loon than a duck.

I've caught a shovel and an anchor in the Lower Niagara, fishing line and lures in almost every water, half of a dead sheephead in Indian Lake,
and almost everytime I go, I catch these darn fighting weeds and sticks that make you think you have the biggest fish on, fighting away until you get to the surface and see that it's just a stick. Or a weed. Or both.

Like I'm sure many have. We caught a nice nice perch on a spinner bait while bass fishing and before we could get him out of the water to release him, the perch caught a nice sized northern! We were waiting for a shark to come next and take the northern!!
