morels?

Not sure if you get them up there in the north woods, but man are they tasty. This is my first year finding them here in NE. penn. They are awesome. It may take a another two weeks for them to get there but if you find them you will be well rewarded.

yeah i would like to know if they are up here as well. I hear good things. wouldnt mind a few myself.

They are up and are of harvest size in Oneida County, Mohawk Valley. A bit early for the North country methinks.

I never found any in NE PA until this year. they are excellent. If your a first timer be looking for oooold apple orchards. I had a few old farmsted ones here and that's where I found them. dying ash is a plus as is sycamore and poplar.

Ok, somebody has to show me how to do this! I went out today and looked for fiddleheads. Found some but they were already ferned out. Did spook up a few whitetails though.

Anyone know what this mushroom is and if it is edible? Saw it the other day while turkey hunting. My foot is in the bottom part of the picture for a size comparison. There were a few more in the vicinity but this was the biggest. The brown discoloration in the middle was from some leaves that had settled there and I had removed them.

Hard to id from that pic alone but it appears to be some type Polypore. Non-edible, too tough, it would be like chewing leather.

Morels used to grow like mad under the apple trees at my last house. I'm pretty sure if I had any at my current yard the hens would have devoured them first.
