    Late Fall fishing

I was reading my NYS fishing regulations book sunday 10/16(depressed cause trout closed the day before) and discovered parts of the Moose River are open for trout till 11/30.
Im gonna try fishin the Moose this weekend anybody have any tips for this River? Ive fished it in the past and find the fishing to be very inconsistent.......sometimes really good fishing but usually I get skunked.
Ill be flyfishin so any ideas on flys/srategies?
Also see the Indian River is also open til 11/30 anybody have luck flyfishin in late fall? Probaly will be fishin the Moose near Remsen Falls but need to check the regs to be sure its open first. Thanks Trouthunter

Main, Middle, and South branches of the Moose in Herkimer Cty are open until 11/30. That includes Remsen falls.

I would use muddlers in various colors, mickey finn streamers or bh buggers.

With all the rain lately and the draw down of the fulton chain, the middle and main are likely too high to fish.

WOOLLY BUGGERS!!!!!! With a dropper. A wet fly preferably, or a nymph. Micky Finns work, but not as well as a bugger.

        Good luck.

Try the woolly and wet fly combo, it works.

Went to the Moose on saturday didnt fish Remsen Falls because there was 12 trucks parked at the parking area above (hunters). Drove back towards RT 28 and fished near the train bridge. Water was very high and hard to wade so I didnt wade too far from shore.I tried Mickeys, buggers and one of my favorites bh stonefly nymph but no luck.Probaly should have gone hunting instead. Oh well good day to practice casting.Ill probaly try again before 11/30.

Now that they're draining the fulton chain, finding fishable water from the middle to main branch might be difficult from now till the season end. Try to get to Remsen falls and its natural flow.

Im gonna try to get back to Remsen falls this weekend, maybe there will be less hunters since it isnt opening weekend.
Never been big on droppers though Ive been told they work good. I seem to get a tangled mess when I use more than one fly, any tricks to it?
I did try a very small olive nymph on a dropper on the Ausable once and caught a nice brown on it. It amazes me how big a fish you can catch on a tiny fly!
