    fishing, hunting threads

    Hey,
I think I lost the fishing/hunting subject titles on my computer.....did anybody else lose them too?
Or has the format changed?Or are the fishing/hunting people getting transferred and/or dissuaded to www. adksportsmans.com????

Fishing and hunting threads should now go under the new Everything Adirondack section. Hunting and fishing threads are still very much welcome to the forum.

If you can't find a particular thread that existed in the old hunting & fishing section in the new section, please let the Adirondack Forum staff know.

PS. I have moved this thread to the Everything Adirondack section

To the Mighty Admins and The Giant Chips on your shoulders,

Why exactly would I post my fishing or hunting info on a "Everything ADK" Forum? Why would I go to a site that makes me SEARCH for info about the topic I am reviewing. Poor decision guys, nothing like pizzing in your own boots. Im guessing you dont even want any Hunting or Fishing posts any longer? Maybe you don't want any members either.....

Your site guys, Your rules guys, enjoy playing with yourselves.

Well, it is their site. I for one am grateful to Kevin, Redhawk, Sacco and the other admins for creating the Fishing/hunting sub topic(and others) in the first place. I learned some things and met some people that I wouldn't have otherwise. Now they've decided to change things, so be it. I'm very dissappointed that the Fishing/hunting area has gone but like they said, we can still post and it will just require some additional sorting to find those posts. There's still the option of PMing people. I don't understand the logic of the decision but again, it's their site and I'm not going to speculate about it. If this doesn't work out, there are other options like a separate ADK fishing/hunting board at another address if enough are interested. Besides, if the activity level we had in the fishing/hunting area gets translated to clutter on the 'Everything Adirondack' forum then they may reconsider.

I appreciate this site. But I agree that the new organization makes it annoying to follow the hunting/fishing threads. My vote is to return to the old way.

            Thanks,
            Karel

I'm doing an inventory. In time this statement may prove to be true.

Food for thought - no one's taking away anyone's right to post hunting/fishing discussion here. At any one time each section merged to Everything Adirondack had 1-5 active topics (posts within the last day). That averages out to be 20 threads at most. I'm going to reprogram the forum to display 20 threads on each page by default, so we don't have to worry about multiple pages of recent threads.

Please bear with us while we work things out.

Need a Hunting and Fishing forum!
To have a site involving Upstate NY - the Adirondack Mountains without it, would be like,...... well lets put it this way.

Long before the trails were completely eroded buy thousands of people dressed in the latest and greatest REI Fashion Show rigs and packing the newest and greatest 35 or wiz bang maga pix camera.

Up in those mountains was the hunter and in those creeks and waters was the fisherman, harvesting his food.

PS - A lot of the fishing/hunting guys that are going also contributed to hikihg, photo, etc.

Sounds like a mass exodus. Have a safe journey to the new forum.

It seems that most members of adkforum who once frequented our hunting/fishing area have already left and formed the adksportsman site. I even publicly encouraged this to happen if the perceived need was real. It has happened so I don't see the harm in supporting the new forum with referrals. The new site has also been added to our resource links list.

That's not to say we can't continue to use adkforum for ANY related adk topics, but if people feel they will be better served elsewhere all that really matters is that they get the information they need (not who they get it from).

Kevin this is not a big complex situation here!
All were asking for is a hunting and fishing forum!

                        Example
Question: Will you please give us back the hunting and fishing forum?

Answer: (your part) Sure, I didn't know it ment so much to you guys and thank you for your input even if it was a little blunt.

                        Optional answer: NO

As you may have seen/noticed, the section is back (as are a few that never existed).
