    Adirondack Acid Rain

Is it true that in some of the higher peaks there are a lot of dead trees and dead lakes/ponds due to acid rain from the Ohio Valley? I have not trecked into such places but have heard over the years that this is true. For example, some older fishing friends say that Calkin's Creek and the Cold Stream past Long Lake used to be excellent brook trout fishing.

    thanks,

If you pick up a copy of the Adirondack Atlas you will be saddened upon reading how acid rain and other forms of pollution have affected the Adirondack's ecology. Loons, maples and fish have all been adversly affected. The clean air act seems to have slowed the effects of toxicity but its still happening.

        Don't eat the fish.

Stick with Stewart's reddish coloured hot dogs and potatoe chips instead.
