Those are great pics!!!!It is so great that you not only took a future fishergirl fishing but got her into some fish(which is very important)Make sure the little girl gets a copy of those pics and those memories will be with her forever.Yes,you could say its time well invested.Glad to see you make time for the little ones, especially in this crazy busy world.Good job.Looks like shes happy with those bass. She reminds me of my little one.I hope to break her free of her busy schedule this summer to hook a few fish.Take care and tightlines!!!

My niece and sister were passing thru town yesterday, so off we went...
Couldn't buy a fish for a while. No risers either. I was getting a little concerned. Needlessly, for I was fishin' w/a pro.
She went and hunted them down and was sight-casting to bass before I even saw one! Now I know who to take lessons from; I was out-fished 4:1. Not kidding.
When my sister was ready to leave, I heard the classic words... 'just one more cast...' When there were no takers, she said, 'hold on, I know where some fish are...' She runs over to another section of pond; I'm thinkin', No Way. Couple casts and, 'Uncle Steve, I've got another one'!
That 'last cast' went on for another 45 minutes. This meatball hero just tried to stay out of the way...
At the end, the other classic question; 'Uncle Steve... is fly-fishing hard?'...
'It takes a little practice. Kind of like your violin, but a hell of a lot more fun!'
I think ,we sometimes make the situation harder by thinking into it too much.Thats the knack kids have. They can just get out and start looking for finny creatures. They`re awesome and you are too.Sometimes they can teach us a thing or two though,if we just sit back and like you did,get out of the way.
I also like your answer to "is flyfishing hard?".She just might surprise you in taking up flyfishing someday. If she can play the violin, she can handle the flyrod.I was just a lowly baritone player and I can cast pretty good.Took me quite a couple of years. But,I have nothing to show ,as of yet. She`s got me beat already.Sounds like you had a great time.Keep it going.Your having a great year and its early.

Priceless. Money can't buy the smile on your nieces' face. WB and I can relate to that smile, he and his daughter, and me and my son. I have pictures of him catching some large bass from this time of year as well and one trip in particular where our "guide", WB, got him into a really nice ... no, not trout, a huge sucker that he held up for a picture like your niece. WB has a picture of his daughter in the back of his canoe holding a gorgeous brook trout smiling through the confines of a bug net.
Your niece will never forget this day, kids always seem to remember fishing trips, especially when they outfish the grownups.
One Saturday morning years ago, WB, Jr, and I were watching "The Fishin' Hole" with Jerry McKinnis and at the end of the show he dedicates the show to his Dad who always had time to take him fishing. And my son says, "If I had a fishing show I would dedicate it to you too. Wo. Since then he's managed to catch almost every species of fish you can catch that took me 40 years to accomplish. Still working on aphoto of us, misplaced my fishing album of all things to misplace.

I have a feeling her casts:strike, strike:land, and casts:landed ratios are kickin' the butt of mine hardcore... especially if that was her first time out this year ...And she outfished you?????? Holy schnikes!
Great you took some shots, I gotta find pictures I have where I'm fishing as a kid... I love looking at them, they crack me up. Although, I might get ticked at the fish I was able to catch then compared to now

Rob,
Those pictures seem like galaxies ago!!!.I see you figured out how to upload.Gotta show me.You should`ve sub-titled your pics "through the years".God have the boys grown. What does that make us?Perfect quote on the bottom of your posts. Now ,people will finally know just how crazy in love with these salmonids we are.We probably should start that book pretty soon.
Good job with the pics Rob!
