    Spruce Lake

I am planning a fishing/camping trip to Spruce Lake and have not been there yet?
Would like to bring my Kayak and am wondering what is the best way in
up from Piseco? or in From Sled Harbor?

Best time to go for fishing?

How are the trails? Ok for good boat wheels?

Where can ya park a truck?

wb- The best access is the trail along Bloodgood Creek. I would not advise using a cart as there are some rocky sections of trail that you will not like dragging your cart over. Carrying is definitely the way to go. I've fished Spruce 2x and have not done all that well, but I will go back as the chances of it being poor EVERY time is low.

I looked to me like Bloodgood Creek was the only way in, but how to get to it?
The Sat images show a road ending shortly after the Piesco Airport?? also
From the north there appear to be logging Roads? But I Guess those would be gated???
I have a long drive from the bottom of the state and only manage 1.2 mph on the trail when I am packen a boat , fishing and camping stuff 5-6 trail miles is about all I want to do...work is going to get in the way of a spring ice out trip this year..thinken maybe early june or early fall?? I would guess the tourist season up there is July and Aug???

WB-The best access is off from Rte 30 above Speculator through Sled Harbor. Once the road is opened after the spring thaw, you will be able to drive to the gate near Bloodgood Creek making it a 3 mile trip in. We have done it in less than an hour with our gear and canoe. Rumor has it Spruce is at it's best in June and July...it is not such a great ice-out pond like Sargents or some others. This comes from fisherman I know who are old enough to remember flying into Spruce. This is good news because, if it was a hot ice out lake, it would b a real bear to get to from Piseco, which would be the closet access at that time of year. I've only been there in mid September and early October and both times it was very quite and we were the only canoes on the lake. I'd like to get in there in June this year and try my luck again.
