This is a very interesting and good suggestion in response to your inquiry.
Hawk moves to the front of the class. Class of what? You really don't want to know.
The only improvement would be to hike one of the high peaks that are accessed from the Ward Brook trail. (Seward and Seymour) Either do a search here or go to Adirondackjourney.com and look these peaks up.

In addition to what's been said, I will suggest the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness, or the West Canada Lake Wilderness. ...Lots of loop possibilities that pass by several ponds with many camp sites.
Whatever you choose to do, I'm sure you will have a great time. Just be sure to be careful, be smart, and not do too much.
...And always remember to carry out what you carried in.
Welcome to the Adirondacks, and the ADKforum!

The Adirondacks is a huge place, with many possibilities in the high peaks, but countless more in other areas. Perhaps if you posted more about the type of hike you're looking for, it would help. The High Peaks is only one small area of the park.

How about going in at the ADK Loj; over Marcy to Panther Gorge for night #1. You can grab Gray/Skylight if you're feeling up for it the next morning. Then head up and over Colden and camp around Lake Colden/Flowed lands for night #2. Day 3 you could go up and over Algonquin (grabbing Boundary, Iroquois, Wright as well and then camp on the shoulder of Algonquin for your last night.
If you're looking to head in somewhere, drop packs and then day hike, you could head in from the Garden to bushnell falls area. You can do Marcy from that area and lots of the upper great range too.
The adirondacks are really rugged, so 10 miles a day for 3 days in a row might be a bit ambitious depending on what shape you're in and how gung-ho you are about it. For example, there is an 8 mile loop from John's Brook Lodge that takes you up over Gothics, Armstrong, and Upper Wolf Jaw - Gothics is really steep to many people that aren't rock climbers and there are a LOT of ups and downs. Throw that day in between 2 other 10 mile days - I think you'll have me crying for mercy

beginner backpacking trip?
My girlfriend and I are looking forward to taking a 3 day backpacking trip next month in the Adirondacks. We're pretty much beginners and have hiked a little bit around the Tupper Lake area (Raquette River horse trail, Ampersand). I'm interested in recommendations on a loop we could do that would cover roughly 10 miles a day for 3 days/3 night. We're semi-lightweight right now, interested in trying something moderate to strenuous. Thanks in advance!
