    Pharoah Lake on Labor Day

We are thinking of taking a small Boy Scout troop to Pharoah Lake over the Labor Day weekend. I have only been there in April and it was very peaceful. Will this holiday weekend be the opposite? Will we be able to get a lean-to?

Pharaoh can be hit or miss. I've been there on holiday weekends where every leanto and campsite around the lake was occupied, but have also been there when none were taken.

I think it's always best to assume that the leantos will be occupied, so bring some form of shelter.

      on the lake-

If I could jump into this conversation. I was thinking of taking a hike out to Pharoh lake for a weekend (after labor day weekend). I have spent some time kayaking in the ADK, but this would be my first hike/camping trip. If we find that all the lean to's are taken, where can we set up camp? I cannot seem to find out what the camping regs are, or where to look them up. Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks-

      Matt

You can camp anywhere that is 150 feet away from the trail or water. There are several designated sites around the lake as well.
