    Slant Rock / Haystack

I am planning a trip into Haystack june 19-21st. Anyone have info on trail conditions, water available etc.? I am sure the bugs are bad and I already have a bear can. We plan to camp in the Slant rock area. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

You can hike into SR, dump your stuff in the LT (if there's room) and go do Haystack. The next morning you can do Marcy if you feel like it and then hike out to the Garden.

There are numerous other options and possibilities depending on what you feel up to.

IIRC you'll want to carry all your drinking water right from SR for any hike going up onto the Great Range. Haystack is a lot of people's favorite Mtn.

We were there last weekend--We actually camped at the Lower Bushnells Falls LT--Very nice, close to lots of water.--All trails were fine--the usual mud here and there--The trail up Haystack from the Marcy jct was a flowing stream but caused no problems.--It may be drier by now. Plenty of water sources along the way until you hit the Haystack Trail.

Never enjoyed Marcy (and I always note that when I can ski well enough to ski it, this might change) but Haystack is an amazing summit that has always been high on my list of top peaks in the east.

IMO, Marcy is best viewed from another summit, rather than hiked itself.
