    short waterfall hike

My brother and i are headin up to the dacks for a nice lil romp through the woods next weekend. We have a pretty busy 4 days but we want to get in as much as possible. I need a little help finding a shorter (<10) hike to some kind of cool waterfall swimming hole area. We will be staying in keene, as i attempt to finish up my 46.

    Schedule:

Friday: leave buffalo at approx. 6am and be in keene by about 12 and do a little bit of a waterfall hike.

Saturday: bright and early to do the whole Dix range and then into LP for some nice dinner

Sunday: head over to the ADK Loj and hit up Redfield and Cliff

Monday: bright and early once again to do Dial, Nippletop, Blake and Colvin and then head back to Buffalo

wow - the whole dix range and dinner in LP--thats quite the long day! are you staying in keene valley or keene--where? from keene valley you can hike up the southside trail--numerous waterfalls and swimming holes. My favorite place to go for a swim.

yeah it is quite ambitious but since days off and trips to the ADKs are limited i have to take advantage of every day im there. As a last minute change of plans we will be staying at the obble mountain cabins.... 20 mins from keene, im guessing?? where is the start of the southside trail?

the garden. you would start out as though you are heading to JBL. approx a mile in you veer to the left and cross the johns brook and then hike alongside the brook.

Here's a couple options for you near Keene...
These are right off the road, and not off the trail, if that matters
              Splitrock Falls:

Another keeper is on the north branch of the Bouquet...

              Enjoy!

Thanks for the compliments on the photo's! I think you may like Split rock if you like close to the road, deep water, with diving. If you like a little more secluded, I'd recommend the north branch. Both are great spots though!

Rocky Falls -just 2.1 miles from ADK Loj - is a nice small waterfall and swimming hole. We didn't have swimsuits, but is sure looked inviting. Easy trail!
