Probably. The weather forecast for Sunday is looking good too. I was hoping to climb Sawteeth that day (back dependent, last time I barely got out of the parking lot lol).

Better get Pinpin to break trail if the snow friday and saturday pan out.

And I thought you were going to be smart and give yourself time to heal? And no, you haven't had enough time.

Plus, i just came out of Black Mountain pond and the warm weather has messed up the packed snow. Couldn't walk coming out without snowshoe without sinking knee deep. Fortunately we packed them in with us.

Thought this maybe a good place to ask? I was thinking on coming up to the daks high peaks area, starting at the garden and hiking in, setting up base camp and doing some dayhikes, at the end of this month, last weekend of march? any thoughts on what the conditions maybe like, to late in the winter season? or just have to wait and see.

        Thanks

Bring your crampons and snowshoes. You never know ! Even if it hasn't snowed in a while and the trails are well broken .
A well broken trail can start softening and make you wish you had your snowshoes.
Freezing nights can make everything icy in the morning and make you wish you had your crampons.
What it is is in your head !

Thanks Rookie, I'm hoping to use both, well I like wearing my snowshoes, don't like to stop and have to put on the crampons, my MSR's usually get me through alot, couldn't believe the traction on those compared to my old ones, and that heel lift on the back, nice, very nice. Not sure after using it why more snowshoes don't have them? anyway thanks again for the info.

I've been working out and doing what I should have started doing a month after the injury. The proper and targeted exercising is helping a lot. I do quite a variety of 'chores' at work and haven't had any pain in quite a while. Val was likely going to break trail for most of the hike, but it looks like this won't be happening. Going to hike the Taconics tomorrow instead.

Yes, I went in with Doug. there are a few ponds in there and a few different trails. You can hike to the top of black mountain (I pased, lot's of snow and no broken trail, the snow was melting so even with snowshoes it was difficult.

                  Nice area though.

Quite a bit of snowmobile activity, but not too intrusive. It's a good area for snowmobiles.
