Hey all. In planning a trip to pharaoh lake in august and I know there are privies at the lean tos, but if you're camping at a nearby tent site is it considered ok to use the nearby lean to's privy?

I have never heard of anyone calling "dibs" on an outhouse before.
I am sure it is ok considering the lean-tos are also not for exclusive use; they are to be shared up to capacity.

I was just in the area. There are privy's at many of the tent sites also. Some are disgusting and due to be moved but they are there.No matter where you go or what you do, you live your entire life within the confines of your head...

Most remote privy’s are like others said, disgusting, and have little to no maintenance . I will gladly let others use them, I prefer to go off trail and do what the wildlife does, with the exception, I’ll dig a cat hole. LOLComment

I paddled Deerland Carry to Macassland Bridge this past week and found privies in surprisingly good decision.Comment

Yeah, any privy out there is pretty much open for anyone to use. Even if you're just hiking past and need to go. Like highway rest stops.
Also note, sometimes if you come across a full/dilapidated privy, there may be a new one nearby. So have a look. The old ones aren't always removed right away.Comment
