    Southern Adirondacks Early November

Have only been a couple of places in the Southern. I'd like to go for 3 days two nights thinking November 5th to 7th. Looking at Ferris Lake Wild Forest around Good Luck lake/clifs maybe Spectacle and Third Lake. Would like to check out the area from Chub Lake to Sherman Mountain cliffs but looks as if a lot is off trail so might not be best idea?
Any idea if either area is actively hunted? I want to minimize the chance of disturbing someones hunting since the season is short. Not really worried for myself, have plenty of orange and pretty careful. Open to suggestion though don't particularly want the NPT.

there are 5 nice sites around Goodluck Lake, where your chances of running into hunters is minimal. Spectacle has some nice sites too, and low chance with hunters. Chub Lake has a nice site, but close to road. the trail to Sherman Cliffs is pretty easy to follow. stop by the Chub Lake Mtn cliffs on your way.
i would really consider going on Powley Piseco Rd, 15 car-camping sites, and a lot of trails.
Jockeybush Lake has 3 sites, the 3rd being the best, and lots of exploration choices...

Thanks that helps. Looked up Powley Pisceco in Discover; don't think for this trip but put on the must list for this year, thanks for that too.

        MarkMc,
If you happen to have a canoe, there's some very secluded camping on Sand Lake, a 1/2 carry from Powley-Piseco Rd.
And beyond Sand Lake, there's some quiet paddling on the outlet. You might even be able to get to Clockmill Pond, if the water levels cooperate and you don't mind a little bushwhacking with canoe overhead.

Nov 5-7 would be weekdays, not many hunters out that way, with leaves down paths may be hard to follow, especially Chub Lake to Sherman Mountain cliffs, no need to worry about disturbing hunters, they got their own grooves while hikers and campers have theirs.

If you want I can take you to Good Luck cliffs and Spectacle, then to Chub Mountain cliffs, Balancing Rock and Sherman cliffs, all in same day. Just pack a pint of bourbon. I need battery power.

Do expect getting lost from time to time. Ain't nobody perfect. 012.jpg

Thanks for the offer. My dates have gone south on me, brother is coming up then. I'm pretty good at getting found again too ) FWIW when I travel more than an hour I prefer multiple days. This one may have to wait till sometime next year and who knows where the muse takes me. BTW sorry but I wore out my welcome at the liquor store a few decades ago.

Only way you could wear out your welcome at a liquor store is if you quit spending money!!!
