    Whiteface Mtn Skiing

This is an excellent ADK source and as a pass holder at Whiteface I was wondering if thier is interest here for a Whiteface subfolder to discuss Whiteface expansion, ski conditions, local knowledge and the like..

skied the first weekend after thanksgiving and went over this tuesday - had to get on skis!

checked out the new bypass off lower parons - its a nice little addition and we eliminate alot of congestion on excelsior

I have not even gotten out yet. Greek peak opens up tomorrow so i'll be there inbetween studying/review sessions both days this weekend. (exams next week)

Anyways, I tend to use the Gore portion of the pass more seeing as I live near Saratoga. I plan on getting 4-5 days at whiteface during winter break, probably staying at the jackrabbit hostel for a few nights.

                          Meager but better

By Sunday afternoon, the winds finally began to diminish and the snow conditions were excellent. Well, excellent given the uncooperative weather so far.

Northway opened Saturday morning. With the heavy winds the manAmade snow was hard packed down the middle but skier’s right edge was benefiting from wind blown.. Real nice chalky snow piled up - by late Sunday afternoon when the guns shut down the skiing on Northway was excellent.

Excelsior was in good shape as well.

Watched Inconvenient Truth last night, scary stuff...

SnowTribe (snowmakers) set guns up on Mtn Run but shut em down as well w/ the rising temps and strong gusty winds..

Just returned from a skiing lunch break. Even though it was raining in Jay, conditions on the mountain were actually pretty good. Snow is a little wet, but not really icy.

No snowmaking at the moment, but I suspect that'll change as the temp. drops later today.

And I've got to say it... nothing beats skiing in the middle of a weekday! Forget about no crowds. There are practically no people at all. You really do have some of the slopes to yourself!
