    NE 'Dacks overnighter

    Howdy,

I'm looking to do one or two more overnighters this season, and want to check out the Adirondacks (hoped to do NPT, but won't work out this year). I'm looking for something that's around 20-25 miles loop, w/ a decent camp spot (lake would be nice) in the middle. I'll be coming from Vermont (Bridge at Rouse's Pt.), so the NE area, through Malone or so, would be helpful. Any suggestions from the pros?

Check out the Pharoah Lake Wilderness exit 28 of Northway. Lots of entry points and several variations for loops are possible. There are several lakes with nice lean-tos.

Taylor Pond is nice as well can loop around the lake with good campsites and lean-tos. Not 25 miles more like 15 but a nice trip.

Further south the Santanoni Preserve offers some good loop options.

    Hope this helps

Maybe just the central high peaks?

How about picking a route in the central high peaks? You could chose pretty much any length that you'd like, plus it should be quieting down a bit with schools starting back up.

If you're coming from the north, yea, I like AntlerP's suggestion about Taylor Pond... maybe the Debar Mtn Wild Forest would be an option?

Maybe something over near Cranberry lake... lots of nice hiking to be had over that way, no real big mountains, but it's a beautiful area.

I'm looking at one loop around the Cranberry Lake area right now, and saw some options around Pharaoh Lakes area as well. I'll have to check out Taylor Pond too, I guess.

        Thanks for the suggestions!
