the wallface ponds are fishless. sorry. the only good trout pond in the hpwc are moose, west of santanoni and livingston. if its fishing for brookies you seek then fish everywhere else but the high peaks. ill tell you a pond thats fishing real good...ah...i better not in here!

      thanks salf.

thats one of the reasons i don't hit the High peaks area too often.

i know a few ponds/streams in the south central/south west.

From what I've heard the Wallface Ponds are acid dead. I didn't see any fish in them this past weekend, but I also didn't bring my fish poll on the trail either.
A man needs to believe in something. I believe I'll go hiking.

            good brooktrout fishing.

Supposedly, owls head pond near long lake is fishing real well. fished it a few years ago, canoed across long lake and followed up its outlet. caught a few around 2 pounds. i hit highrock pond two weekends ago, which just started getting stocked a couple years ago and got skunked. the only place ive done well is at sand lake in the five ponds a few weeks ago but its a bitch getting into from long pond rd out of belfort. gotta carry for a couple miles then paddle across rock lake. awesome spot... old growth white pine.

it's too bad. reason i was wondering zac, is cause of the TT buttkicker.

i was hoping to find some kinda fishin for the trip. i was thinking one day for the planned peak bagging, and maybe staying an extra day (probably moving base camp) for some fishin. you interested / any ideas ?

                  re: owls head

you cant padddle up the outlet...i carried a raft in a backpack for that one.
from what i remember there was a small area where fisherman have camped in the past but it doesn't get alot of use.

                        sheesh, i dunno.
my float tube weighs less than 10lbs w/ everything.
                        though it only carries 1.

i like the idea of those GA canoes though.

it's funny, but I was hiking in to Marcy Dam a couple of weeks ago and passed two people with spinning rods on their packs. I asked where they had been fishing and they said thay'd pulled a few nice brookies out of Marcy Dam. Go figure - I've seen the rises but never thought to bring the rod.
