Hello all, we are planning (this memorial weekend 2006) to do Macomb, S. Dix, E.Dix, Hough, and Dix itself. We might park one car near Elk Lake, and the other out on Rt. 73. Any news about blowdown in the area? I know there are no marked trails, but I'm hoping the "herd paths" will be easy enough to follow. Am I crazy? Are fires still allowed in Dix Range? Do we need a permit to camp overnight in this area? Are the black flies heavy yet?
Any sources to fill up water?
Basically, we were hoping this range would be less crowded than say, the Marcy area, especially considering the holiday weekend!
