On my trip to Moose Mountain Pond, I was awestruck by the peaks I saw looking north from the parking area. I'm not used to viewing the peaks from this direction, so I'm a little stumped. If anyone can identify the peak and surrounding peaks in the following picture it would be appreciated. My guess is it is the Rocky Peak Ridge/Giant area, or the Dix range, but I most definitely could be wrong. I looked at my map and am just not sure. By the way, I'm referring to the pond in North Hudson, just in case there is a clone out there I am not aware of. Thanks. -GG

Looks like Giant.
If you were on the Northway heading North, Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge come into view dead head just before exit 29 and the mountain in your picture looks like Giant from that angle. From the south Giant looks like a "peak" instead of a ridge or mound like it does from every other direction.Comment

Qam, I think you're right. It makes sense since the mountain in front would be RPR. I just never thought of Giant having that "peak." I'm hoping some other people will throw some guesses in as well just to be sure. There were also two other moutains to the left, though they are kind of tough to see in the picture. I think Dix and Hough maybe? Not really sure.Comment

I believe it is Dix. East Dix is foreground right. Peak is the Beckhorn and true summit to the right. Hough is at left.Attached FilesComment

Another very viable claim. That map looks pretty conclusive. Thanks, Robony. I had prematurely ruled out East Dix simply because it is supposedly so "elusive", but I guess maybe not from the MMP Trailhead.Comment
