Hiking/conditions and questions

I am planning a trip for the weekend of nov. 4th. I am planning on hiking Marcy and Tabletop starting from the loj trail head. I am wondering if anyone has been up recently and knows the conditions or knows what i should be prepared for. I have already summitted a few peaks in the winter last year. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

lessthancam, I don't know about specific conditions on these two peaks, but I'm reading reports of 2-3 feet of snow in many of the high peaks.

Did Mt. Mansfield this past week end-10/29-[with great views of the snowy"High Peaks"]

This turned out to be a full winter hike-3-4 feet of snow-a winter wonderland-beautifull-windy and cold up top-many/most other hikers turning back ,with only boots etc.-major post holing which we had to manuever around with our snow shoes-we didnt need our crampons-but ,we had them. Spectacular deep blue sky up top-more snow than I had on a number of winter hikes last year in the Dacks.

Of course,next weeks weather could change all this, but ,I would be prepared for winter conditions on Marcy-ice for sure--most likely some snow also

Made an attempt this weekend at WJ, Armstrong and Gothics. There were 5 of us with snowshoes taking turn breaking trail. The snow was 2+ feet deep. That wasn't the bad part. The blowdown was horrendous from all the snow. Made it past the WJ lean-to and ended up turning around. About 2 miles of hiking in 3 hours!

All high 50's predicted for the week. There just may be some heavy melt down. By the weekend it may be easier to get to the peaks. Sawteeth and Gothics from the Au Sable Club was reported, over at VFTT, to have been broken out this weekend. If you need those peaks, this may be the time to get them.
