Looking for a trail up Green Mtn

Just N of Giant Mtn and S of Rte 9N is Green Mtn. I want to hike it. There's bound to be a herd path up it, situated where it is. Anybody done it or know where the herd path(s) may be located?

From what I've heard, there isn't a herd path; it's a pure bushwhack up to the summit of Green.

None now, but wait 5 years, and there will be one.

No herd path. Pretty straight forward bushwhack. Not much interesting on top.

Unfortunately you are probably right. How long do you think before the Sawtooth Range has a herd path?

Actually, Doug and I did Green quite recently. There are very plain herd paths interwoven aprox. half way up. I believe they are true herd paths ie. made by animals. Whatever they are they ease the way. From the trail-lean-to spur trail junction walk east for a very short distance (50-100 feet) keeping your eyes peeled as you look towards Green. You should be able to find a path. If you don't find one it dosn't really matter. The summit is 15 degrees (grid) relative to the LT. You may encounter cliffs. Detour right along the (very obvious here) herd path for maybe 100 feet then keep going up. If you go up too quickly it's too thick. If you use a gps I can send you a tracklog. I can also post a jpg from Topo that shows our route and wp's the cliffs.

It is very, very thick immediately above the cliffs. The detour to the right is definitely the best option. I thought this was a great hike with tremendous views of the slide on the back of Giant.
