  • new version of the west-central guide book?

Is there a new version (4th ed. I think) coming out for this section?
Seems like every other area is out. There is someone online selling one for about $500. adk.com doesn't have them either.

The ADK is completely re-vamping their guidebooks. There will now be 5 guidebooks that cover the Adirondacks, rather than 7, as the old versions had. Each guidebook will roughly correspond with one of the National Geographic Maps, which are also being updated at the same time:

#742: Lake Placid/High Peaks- will be the new High Peaks guidebook
#743: Lake George/Great Sacandaga Lake- will be the new Eastern Region guidebook
#744: Northville/Raquette Lake- will be the new Southern Region guidebook
#745: Old Forge/Oswegatchie- will be the new Western Region guidebook
#746: Saranac/Paul Smiths- will be the new Northern Region guidebook

As of now, only the new High Peaks and Eastern Region guidebooks, and their corresponding new NG maps, are out. None of the other 3 guidebooks have been released yet, nor have the corresponding NG maps. It seems that the guidebooks and maps are being updated consecutively, with new editions of both being released at the same time. NG has stopped shipping the old versions of the corresponding maps to retail outlets, though, which leads me to believe that the new maps, and therefore also the new books, will be out sometime soon.

Also, if the old version is $500... assuming that the rest, aside from the High Peaks and Eastern Region books, are equivalently priced due to high demand and low supply, does that mean that I've got $2,500 on my bookshelf right now?

Too bad DS, looks like used books are "only" worth $75...

I have an ADK Guide to the Eastern Adirondacks, but mine is a 1981 publication. Not new but would it be considered "vintage"?
