West Canada Lakes Wilderness Area Trip Suggestions

I'm trying to put a trip together to the West Canada Lakes Wilderness Area over Memorial Day weekend. My current plans have me parking at the Lewey Lake Campground and taking the Sucker Brook trail over to Cedar Lake where I'll setup camp. From there I kinda want to explore around the area.

Does anyone have suggestions for me on where to camp or what to explore?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

don't know if you're familiar w/ the sucker brook tail, but it's a pretty tough one!

One of my favorite overnight hikes in the Dacks is through the West Canada Lakes starting at the Pillsbury Mtn trailhead. From there I like to head to Cedar Lake and then on to West Lake spending a night at both. You can then head back out completeing the loop

Thanks sacco....I did see on my topo that there is 2000 ft rise within the first three miles. It would definitely make for a long first day.

I do like fvrwld's suggestion as an alternative. Fvrwld...is there anything cool in the area to go check out? What would the area/trails be like this time of year? Would there be any snow left? Is there anything out of the ordinary I should be prepared for? Sorry for all the questions. I'm still a little new at this.

        Thanks,

        Kevin

You can also go in via the Piseco trailhead for the NPT. Less elevation then via Pillsbury at the start. You could spot a car up at the Pillsbury Trailhead and come out that was as well.

Trail will more then likely be muddy in spots, no snow, probably lots of black flies (bing deet and headnet). It's the nicest time of year though as far as the new foliage and should be plenty of fiddleheads to saute.
