I moved my grandmother's rocking chair to the porch out front of her house. Now she too is a winter rocker.

I wish you the VERY BEST of LUCK as you climb the Dix Range on Sunday. I hope that you have no unexpected problems getting there. I have no doubt, with your determination, that you will reach, that 46th Winter Peak!

When you do, if you PM me with an address, it would be an honor to me, to send you, your Winter Rocker Patch.

All kinding aside, but what is a "winter rocker?"

If you can dream -- and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same...

It's the patch that is earned by a person, who has ascended all 46 High Peaks of the Adirondacks, all in Winter. Which are recorded with the Adirondack Forty-Sixers.

I'll get my rocker about the same time as I'll "need a rocker". Winter peakbaggin fever hasn't hit me real hard yet. Done a few, including a few bushwhacks. I enjoy it it enough to continue on slowly, but I have other goals and things I'm working on right now.

Which is good, cuz my winter schedule sucks and doesn't offer much "Adirondack time". A whole 5 trips since Thanksgiving............ whooopie (I plan to hit the Daks 5 times in the next 10 weeks or so....)

Good luck Rik and congrats (again) Pvon. If I live long enough, I'm sure I'll join you someday .

Thanks for all the well wishes. Anyone want to debate the merits of starting at Clear Pond vs. Rt. 73? Macomb Slide vs. Great Slide? Remember I have Macomb, Carson, and Grace so what does everyone think? I'd be interested to hear opinions. I have done both of these climbs in summer months but not in winter.
