    Snowshoeing in High Peaks

I have guests coming and I'm looking for a easy to moderate trail to snowshoe this weekend somewhere in the High Peaks. Six or seven miles roundtrip tops. I've already done:

    Mount Jo
    Owen, Winch, Copperas
    Connery Pond
Lake Road at the Ausable Club
    Marcy Dam

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Suggested trips

Into the Great Camp at Santanoni 4.5 miles each way, on a carriage road similar to the road at the Ausable Club, very gradual grades.

In the same area (Newcomb) Mt. Goodnow if you want something a little tougher - a little longer and more vertical than Mt J, but not as steep Great fire tower and keepers cabin at the top.

The Visitors Information Center down the road and across the street from Goodnow has some great trails, too. General information here: http://www.newcombny.com/

From the parking lot at Upper Works, go into the Flowed Lands. Or from the same general area, one parking lot back, try Mt Adams. Views from the fire tower there are spectacular. This one gets a little steep on the upper third, but the views from the tower - since Mt Adams is smack between the eastern and western High Peaks - is breath taking Got to get up to at least the third landing, though, to see them.

    Have fun.

The trail to Dix from Rt. 73 (near Chapel Pond) is a beautiful hike. It's pretty moderate and runs along the Bouquet River for a while. I don't have the map in front of me, but there's a lean-to on the River that would make a good lunch stop/turnaround point. I think it's about 3 or 4 miles in, which would meet your distance requirement, and it's pretty moderate in terms of any elevation gains.

...or, Rocky Peak Ridge from the east. Lots of nice views, moderate grades.
