Phelps Trailhead from loj

Check out Adirondack Journey, Joel has a wealth of trail info. Phelps at ADK Journey
Otherwise, from the ADK Loj, follow the Van Hov past Marcy Dam, which will lead you to the trailhead for Phelps. The Phelps TH is about 1-mile past Marcy Dam, it's clearly marked. -
It's an 8 mile hike round trip, requiring a minimum of 5 1/2 - 6 hours, round trip comfortably. I hope that you have a friend who will be going with you, as any Winter Peak is dangerous alone."It is easier to become a Forty-Sixer than to be one. The art of the being is to keep one's sense of wonder after the excitement of the game is over."

Have you got the USGS Quad for the area?"If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracles of technology. Originally posted by KevinIt's a highway to Phelps on most fair weather days. If you get confused, just stand on the trail for 3 minutes and ask the next hiker that strolls by."If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracles of technology.
