    Camp Bedford for sale?

I'd just heard that Camp Bedford of the boy scouts is up for sale. Does anybody know anything about this? Is it still available, or has a sale been consummated yet. It's not far from Paul Smiths college in the Northern part of the Adirondacks.

It's been closed and for sale for some time, at least 3 years anyway. Here's a story on NCPR.

So the original asking price as around $2.5 million, and now three years later they are asking for about half that? I would have thought that this would have been snatched up quickly. It's not chump change, but still, considering what some people are putting into real estate in the Adirondacks...

Any idea why it's taking so long?

The NCPR story said this was a funding issue, and that this was supposed to be a way of generating revenue. It doesn't look like that's panning out so far.

I think the answer is spelled out on the real estate web page:
"A deed convenant on the property, held by the State of New York, restricting all future building and campus improvements, severely limits a purchaser's ownership rights. The language of this covenant is inclusive within the property's deed."

Interesting. What's the latest on Portaferry?
--"Pete You***?!, Pete You***'s grandson?!...That name is nearly sacred & uttered with awe in THIS house!" : The late Dr. Reed's wife, upon entering her house & being introduced- so to converse with her husband about the old days, a little before he died. The kind of greeting you'll never forget & reinforces your image of the hero you never met. --
