    Fall Foliage in the Peaks??

I'm hoping to get up to the ADKs at the end of September and hopefully again in early October for some hiking. I'd be planning to do the Steward Range. I know this area is not all pine so the fall foliage should be more vivid here than if I were to be hiking in the Marcy region. Has anyone been in the area recently and know how the fall foliage is progressing toward peak colors? I've checked the reports on the Lake Placid website and it doesn't look like much is happening yet with the leaves. I don't think this is taking into consideration the higher elevations though. Anyone have any helpful info?

    Thanks!

    Kurt

It’s the top that defines the sides. So on we go...we have a long way...no hurry...just one step after the next...."

I was in the Sabattis area (between Tupper and Long Lake) and in my estimation leves are at least 50 %. Just my opinion.

I'm in Lake Placid right now and have been in the area since last Friday. The color has come on dramatically in just the last few days. Hiked Van Hoevenberg today and the color was at or very near peak. Stunning!

          What he said

I"ll second what PA above me said, it's come on reallly quick all of a sudden. Absolutly beautiful out there right now. I think this weekend will be peak.
