    Woodhull Lake

We are thinking about camping at Woodhull Lake this weekend. We have never been there and want to know if it is peacefull, i.e. are motor boats allowed?

Woodhull Lake near Old Forge? I mistakenly hiked there about 3 years ago on our way to the mountain, via a newly constructed or recently improved road. At that time, the lake seemed peaceful, but I've heard that there is a large housing boom going on there. Any others have updated info?

I was there a few weeks ago. I've also been there a bunch of times before the road was rebuilt, but that was years ago. Yes, motor boats are allowed, but most of the activity seems to be confined to the eastern end of the lake, which is privately owned. The times I've been there I didn't see much motorboat traffic from the lean-to. This latest time we paddled around the lake, and saw maybe a half dozen motorboats, all on the eastern end of the lake. That was before schools let out though, so there may be more traffic now.

The thing that would probably concern me more than motorboats is the fact that you can drive to within a quarter mile of the lean-to. That usually doesn't bode well for attracting the quiet, peaceful crowd if you know what I mean. We were just out for the day so I don't know. Does anybody else know how the rebuilt road has affected the party situation there?
