    Other ADK sites

I tried to add this to the ADK resources thread but it's closed. . There are actually tons of great ADK related sites out there that I have run accross.

I have one that I think is decent ADKHIGHPEAKS and it has lots of info on the peaks I've climbed. It's not a good as many (like Head's, for example) but it has some usful stuff on it (so I'm told).

Alpine has a some great pictures posted as well. Perhaps you could re-open that thread, or start a new one where people could post other sites that they know of or have come accross that people here might find of interest. Just a thought.

I'd just like to add that www.adksportsfitness.com is a good place to find out about upcoming events and has some nice hiking articles from time to time. Also, while not hiking related (unless you like to fish), www.adirondacklakessurvey.org is a good place to find out about acid rain and current PH levels in lakes, rivers and ponds. just keep in mind that many ponds that did not have fish during the 1980's when they did their pond inventorying survey are currently being stocked by the DEC and contain some real lunkers- probably should go to the NYSDEC and view the stocking lists.

            Albany Chapter ADk

I manage the Albany Chapter ADK web site. The chapter has a pretty extensive outings schedule. You need not be a member of the chapter to participate in chapter outings, and there is no cost except for car pool gas contributions. I post the schedule on the web page before members get their newsletters, so contact info for Jan-Feb outings can't be given out until members get their newsletters, around December 10th. To get contact info for an outing, send e-mail to albhike@yahoo.com. Wait until 12/10 to request contact info for Jan-Feb outings.

That's good news Mike, I'd hate to think we'd all have to walk on different trails

                    And another ADK site

Well, it covers a lot of other mountains as well, but there is a comprehensive looks at the 46ers and a few others at http://www.summitpost.com/

Just pick your favorite mtn, and browse to it. Once you are in the Adirondacks, the navigation bar will list the high peaks for you.

Thanks whitelief! summitpost.com is an excellent addition to our hiking resources and will be added soon. Keep'em coming! We already have Adirondack Journey which is another excellent site. Thanks again.
