Snow Season

I'm planning a trip to the Keene Valley/Lake Placid area sometime this winter - actually it's looking more like the last week in March. I've never visited the Adirondacks in winter so in terms of snow conditions for cross-country skiing, would I still be OK to wait this long in the season?

Of course there are exceptions but most winters there is still good skiing at the end of march.
