    Winter Rangers ?

Hi all.....as some of you may remember, I'm planning a solo 4 day trek, with a base camp at Marcy Dam, my only firm plan being to try and summit Wright, Algonquin, and return via Avalanche Pass. I've set a date, and it's Monday, Jan 24, until Thursday. If anybody out there is going to be in the area, it would be great to say hi!
In the interest of my safety planning, I was wondering if any Outposts are manned in the winter, specifically the one on Colden Lk., and Marcy Dam

Colden Lake is manned in the winter. I believe Marcy Dam is as well.
Enjoy your trek - be careful out there!

      Winter Rangers

Only the Coldin Outpost is staffed. The Assistant Rangers work a week long shift, one week on one week off. The folks that have been up there over the past few years are Steve and Margret. Also, there is no winter Ranger staffing at the JBL outpost. There are, however, ADK volunteers at the JBL Crew Cabin just before the JBL Lodge on weekend throughout the winter. In emergencies they have radio contact avavible to DEC.
