I put em' to the test last weekend, they are new for me as well. They are very, very warm & waterproof. I'm a big fan of Polar-Tec and the removable liner are thick of the stuff. If they get sweaty when camping take the liners out turn them inside out & put them into your sleeping bag to dry them out overnight, or just wear the liners to sleep.

I also bought a $10(Fox River) http://www.foxsox.com/Catalog/SockDe...D=9995&c=BLACK super thin glove liner to wick away some of the sweat and have some protection when I slip my hand out for a quick picture.

What's also nice is you can stuff all 4 fingers into one section of the mitt instead of having your pointer finger solo. I did this a lot to quickly warm up my fingers.

The one drawback is......it is very combersome to to continually try & stuff the mitts into your hiking pole straps. I like using the straps on poles but it was very hard to do with a big expedition mitt like this.
Set out runnin' but I take my time

Leave the mitts in the straps, just take your hands out of the mitts.

Not withstanding Hawk's comment to the contrary (I don't know what we'd do without you, Hawk...probably keep to the thread ) I might stow them in my pack until I absolutely need them and wear a lighter glove/mitten in the meantime. They are clearly designed for the extreme and overheating takes place pretty rapidly when one is on the move. They are very bulky, that's for sure! They look quite at home on top of Marcy!

I'm not a winter climber, at least not yet so I got them for winter camping. They are most impressive mitts! Thanks for the suggestions.
