    Moxham Mt

Moxham is that mountain on NY 28N just north of North Creek. The one with the sheer rock wall falling to the river and close to the highway. Has anyone heard if the state has taken any action upon their proposed trail building on that Mountain? Back in Oct of last year the DEC released it "final" ump for the Vanderwhacker Wild Forest. In that DEC advocated building a trail up Moxham from "Fourteen Road" wherever that is. Here is the link for the story.

Just wondering if anyone has heard about this. It looks like a neat hill to climb.

Don't know much about it, but I do know that fourteenth road is a dirt road that ends at the river, right near north river. It is on the map.

A view from the top of Moxham, while not exactly remote, would be cool.

Ah, each year I take a look at Moxham and say I must climb it! And then I say to myself but you've only got x years before Paul goes to college (down to one now) and y peaks still to climb so he gets his 46 (down to 12) so I STILL haven't climbed Moxham.

My family has vacationed in Minerva since 1948 (long before i was born), and we've had a fascination with Moxham almost as long. We made three bushwhack attempts up it over the years, actually summiting for two of them (although the last one more than 10 years ago, so I'm due). The views are worth it.

I also have been anxiously awaiting the established trail -- of which to my knowledge work has not yet begun. I allude to the planned trail in an article in the upcoming Fall edition of the Adirondack Journal of Environmental Studies if you're interested. I continue to check in with the DEC every now and again about progress on the implementation of the UMPs, and since Moxham is close to my heart I always ask about it. I'll try to keep this forum current if I learn anything more about it.
