    Guidebook for Adirondack hiking

What is the best guidebook for hiking in the Adirondacks? I am interested mainly in trail descriptions and views for photography.

ADK's book and Barbara McMartin's books are good. But I've found that online sites are better as there are more pics and more recent descriptions and trail updates.

I obvioulsy like mine the best adkhighpeaks.com, but Andrew's site is incredible too. So is AdirondackJourney.com too.

As you guessed by Tim's respionse, many of us use a combination of reference materials when planning a hike. Part online, part adk guide, part map, part trail talk info, etc.

I'm a fan of using the ADK guide books, the ADK guide book map, and the National Geographic Trail Illustrated map while hiking unfamiliar trail. When planniing I'll review these but also set a course on the electronic National Geographic Topo! software (even sometimes export waypoints into my GPS for reference later on the trail). www.topozone.com is good free software for looking at topo maps online, but you can't create routes or import/export waypoints to a GPS from it.
