    Wright Peak Plane Crash/Bone

I climed wright last Friday (4-14-06), and while checking out the plane wreck/plaque, I found a bone, has anyone else seen this? No expert, but it was broken on one end, and a hinge joint on the other. I don't know if it's original or if some prankster stuck something up there. I left it where I found it, but here is a pic.

I am a Forensic Death Investigator and you are looking at a deer bone..... And a fairly fresh one. I would not be concerned.

I see there's no need to bring my good bud Dr. Henry Lee to investigate.

Just saying hello from Connecticut also.

Dr. Henry Lee was a guest speaker at a few dinners I have attended, he is seems like a nice fellow.

Well, aren't you nice to say hello.

Haven't seen Henry since he was State Police Commissioner. In my prior life, he testified in a number of my cases.

What part of Connecticut, generally speaking, do you hail from?

                    Hello JudgeH:

                    I am from Stamford area.

I also remember working with Dr. Lee back in the days when I used to work in the litigation dept. of a law firm. Those days are over. Now, I am in-house and as happy as a hiker!

I'm no human anatomy expert.... but maybe you should share that pic with a forensic pathologist just to be sure it's not - well, you know.

It seems like an "old" bone would be bleached... but what do I know?

Perhaps even contact the Air Force... who knows - maybe one of those Black Ops choppers will drop down on you.

Showed it to the boss and asked "is this human"................. He laughed and walked away.

I took it as a no

But how old is a bone when it is bleached?

And if you look, Mavs said it was a "fresh one". Now see what you did? You made me actually validate something Tim said !! Grrr )

C'mon guys, it's so obvious that the sulcus on the superior aspect of that ungulate tibia is deeper than on a human. Probably serves to increase the surface area for muscle or tendon attachements. As for the tibial plateau, sheesh! a human one is a way flatter.

I once found a petrified bone while exploring an island while on a canoe trip in NW Ontario. It was lying on the ground with no other bones anywhere. I kept it, thinking it was part of a knee joint. Years later, when studying to become a chiropractor I realized it was a vertebra with a huge spike sticking out the back. It had to be from an extinct species. I was all excited until at the local museum I saw a carboard box full of the same specimens lying on the floor in a workshop. I'll post a picture of it when I get a chance.
