Potentially soggy places to avoid in early April?

    Hello everyone!

I'm planning on going out again sometime in early April - and I know there is potential for snow melt, high water and mud!

Can anyone tell me trails that they would definitely avoid in early April because of these things?

Just about every trail is a mess in April. However, I am out on the trails heading to trout ponds then, too, and I don't find it too bad. The trails i hit have mostly large puddles to scoot around, and little mud, but they can also be icy. With the lack of snow, and lately rain, the flat trails have the potential to be in better shape this year. But April is always a rainy month, so we'll see.

The Santanoni's, you can sink out of sight.
The Seward trail is quite muddy too.
Almost forgot Cliff, Tabletop and Iroquois!

The Southside Trail by John's Brook
          The Hopkins Trail to Marcy
Actually, it might be easier to ask which ones aren't muddy

The trail into rock lake from the benson trailhead is not to bad. I was up there wednesday and I'll be back in that area tomorow.

My wife and I are heading for the tongue range later this month. Does anyone know how the trails are there? We will be starting at clay meadow. Any info would be helpfull. Thanks, Dirtfan115.

trails mostly dry, a few wet spots (mud under leaves) ... it's especially muddy at the beginning of the trail just after you cross the bridge.

Heading into the Dix range Via elk lake is going to be wet. Shin high in places, and there is the added 3 mile road walk.

                      cheers.
